Pike and Western Wine Shop just celebrated their 40th Anniversary. Opened in 1975 in Pike Place Market, Pike and Western has become a local and tourist favorite. Their selection of wines range from local to international, offering as many small batch, independent wineries as possible. On top of their expansive wine selection, many thanks to daily tastings, they remain one of our favorite Market vendors because of their amazing staff and customer service. We have had the pleasure of working with them for as long as the hotel has been open. At least weekly we are calling them for recommendations and requests, which they hand deliver to our Front Desk staff in usually no time at all. They are our go-to for hotel guests looking for wine to buy to take up to our water view terrace or for guests wanting to purchase wine as a gift to be delivered. Our guests can contact Pike and Western directly to discuss wine and purchase and they will deliver to the hotel. A big congratulations from all of us at the Inn at the Market, here’s to 40 more years!
Our Sunday will be a little more exciting than usual this weekend. The Pike Place Market Foundation is hosting an event featuring Seattle Rock Icons performing live on the roof of the Pike Place Market. Rawpower: A Tribute to Iggy and The Stooges includes food and drinks, VIP access to the performers after the show and of course an up close and personal concert featuring former members of Pearl Jam, Guns N’ Roses, Screaming Trees and Mudhoney. Check out the details here, tickets are still available. Proceeds benefit the Pike Place Market Expansion Project.

We’ve been watching with bated breath as we see items going in and out of the Sushi Kashiba kitchen. With windows wrapped in plastic, it’s been hard to spy on what’s happening inside. We are all eagerly anticipating the opening of Sushi Kashiba this fall and Seattle Eater posted yesterday that end of October the wait may be over! We’ve seen the plans, as seen in the photo here and looking forward to all the “sushi power” Kashiba will bring to the courtyard of the Inn at the Market and the Pike Place Market.
We’re enjoying Fleet Week in Seattle! It’s been fun seeing the sailors around town and watching the ships in the bay. The next few days you can tour some of the ships as part of the Boeing Maritime Celebration on Piers 66, 69 and 90. The Inn at the Market is just a short walk down to the water front. We’ve also been seeing the Blue Angels practicing up above preparing for their daily show this weekend for Seafair Weekend. Looking forward to all the water fun on Lake Washington that is part of this annual Seattle tradition.
Their slogan is “honest to goodness, kick-ass biscuits” and we kind of have to agree. This great new addition to the Pike Place Market, Honest Biscuits, features mouth-watering biscuit goodness straight up and gluten free. The menu offers butter/jam biscuits, sandwiches, two different kinds of gravy and grits! We recently tried “The MacGregor” which features bacon from Bavarian Meats, caramelized onions and Beecher’s Flagship Cheese. Many of the menu items feature local favorites from the Market. Honest Biscuits is located in the Atrium of the Economy Building (just upstairs across from the giant squid). We recommend giving them a try as soon as possible!
Honest Biscuits is open daily 8am-5pm
