Team up or go solo for the newest game in town – Pike Place Market’s “Around the Market in 80 Minutes.” 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. one Sunday each month through June, players will search high and low for 10 Market destinations, based on clues in the “Passport” distributed at the beginning of the game. They are free, available on each game day starting at 11 a.m. at the check-in tent near “Rachel,” the bronze piggy bank.

Each player must go to at least five destinations to qualify. When players arrive at each correct destination, a “Customs Agent” will stamp their “Passport” and give them a randomly chosen sticker that goes on the “Passport.” The stickers play a role in helping participants get the lowest score possible. That’s right—the person with the lowest score wins a prize!

Each participant turns in his or her “Passport” upon completion. Any tie is broken by the fastest completed “Passport.”

The dates for “Around the Market in 80 Minutes” are as follows:

January 30 | February 27 | March 27 | April 17 | May 29…

…and on June 26th – the Championship, with previous winners invited to vie for the Grand Prize.

We’d like to tip our hats to Beecher’s Handmade Cheese whose “World’s Best” Mac & Cheese just made the list of Oprah’s Favorite Things! (And yes, that Mac & Cheese is truly amazing!!) So during your stay at Inn at the Market, be sure to make at least one stop into Beecher’s Handmade Cheese – our neighbor located at the bottom of our block in Pike Place Market!

A visit to Beecher’s is a feast for the senses. The sights and sounds of Pike Place Market provide a backdrop for the dance of the cheesemaking process. Inside Beecher’s you can enjoy a grilled-to-order sandwich, a cup of homemade soup, or a serving of the “World’s Best” Mac & Cheese, Beecher’s twist on an American favorite. Move down the counter to the cheese case and you’ll find Beecher’s selection of cheeses as well as a broad assortment of American artisan cheeses. A knowledgeable cheesemonger will help you discover new flavors and textures, and advise you about pairing cheese with wine, beer, and other foods. Victor Steinbrueck Park is located at the north end of Pike Place Market… just a few minutes walk from Inn at the Market.

The “Salmon-chanted Evening” event features a hearty menu of delicious wild Pacific king salmon, fresh salads, and dessert against the backdrop of Elliott Bay for only $15. The salmon supper is the first of what the organizing committee hopes to become a weekly tradition next summer and beyond in one of downtown Seattle’s most scenic parks.

Up to 300 meals will be served and the event is first-come, first-serve with no ticket purchase necessary. Seating is available throughout the park, so picnic blankets are recommended.

The salmon suppers are meant to be more than a simple social gathering in the park. By activating Victor Steinbrueck Park with compelling, community-oriented programs, the park and surrounding businesses, including your favorite hotels in downtown Seattle, receive added foot traffic, and added vibrancy.

The Pike Market Senior Center will also be providing free meals at its location in the market, beginning at 4pm, with support from Tom Douglas Restaurants and Starbucks Coffee Company. Leftovers from the salmon supper will also be donated to the Senior Center and the Food Bank it administers.

There is little that whisks us away to our dream of Paris more readily than the classic French petit déjeuner in the morning sunshine. Taking a moment to savor some coffee, some juice, a small pastry and a baguette with some confiture, watching the world and its denizens hustle about; these are what the French refer to as les petits plaisirs, the small pleasures.

So, in response to popular demand from both locals and visitors alike, Café Campagne will offer breakfast during the week starting June 1st. Serving from 8am until lunch begins at 11am.. Expect to see favorites like the Oeufs en meurette, the Omelette Choisy, and our house-made chicken and pork sausage and even house-made patisseries!

Cafe Campagne is located on the Post Alley side of Inn at the Market, our famous downtown Seattle hotel. Click here to visit the Cafe Campagne website.
