Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic opens this week at the Seattle Art Museum. This exhibit, organized by the Brooklyn Museum, will be the only stop on the west coast. Wiley’s stylized portraits have led him to gain recognition as a leading American artist. His work portrays modern men/women in beautiful, bright, grand versions of portraits in the style of aristocratic 18th century portraiture. Read more about his experience and work here.
Head to the museum this Thursday, February 11th for opening day of the exhibit and stay for the opening celebration offered free to the public (limited space available, tickets required) from 5-10pm. The celebration will include live music, performances, conversation with the artist, Kehinde Wiley, as well as interactive art-making and other surprises!
Our Museum Package is available year round and includes overnight accommodations, valet parking, welcome amenity and 2 tickets to the Seattle Art Museum, located just 2 blocks south of the Inn at the Market.

We recently checked out the winter show at the Can Can Kitchen & Cabaret located here in Pike Place Market. This vaudevillian cabaret/dinner theater show includes music, dance, burlesque, comedy and acrobatic theatrics. Your options as a visitor include having the full dining experience while you watch the show, which includes a seasonal menu that is swapped out with each performance, or simply watching the show with or without cocktail in hand. Outside of the show itself, the Can Can is also home to the Absinthe & Craft Cocktail Bar. There is no cover charge to just have a drink in the bar, of which the ceiling includes glass stones from the street level above on 1st Ave. The Can Can is located off of Pine St., directly below Pike Place Flowers, one block south of the Inn at the Market. The show itself is very entertaining, offering a fun alternative to a simple dinner in the Market. The current show Wonderland runs through January 31st. Opening next week is Can Can Cabaret through February 7th, and opening the week of Valentine’s Day is French Kiss. Reservations are recommended for every show, especially Valentine’s Day Weekend.

It’s no surprise that the line for Sushi Kashiba has been out the door almost every night for the past couple of weeks. The word has spread and sushi loving foodies are coming from all over to try out the unique dining experience offered or possibly to catch a glimpse of Shiro Kashiba behind the sushi bar. Last week Seattle Met’s Nosh Pit listed Sushi Kashiba as one of the “The 10 Defining Restaurant Moments of 2015″ for Seattle. We are certainly feeling lucky to have him here as well as the entire Sushi Kashiba staff. Also noteworthy on this list are a few of our other current Seattle favorites: Chop Shop, Stateside, Mamnoon and Kraken Congee.
Sushi Kashiba is open daily 5 pm-10:30 pm
